At Bethpage, we are committed to making your transition to our credit union as smooth as possible. Below is a list of important dates to keep in mind as we convert your account(s). In addition, please find a list of Frequently Asked Questions and Answers section, for your reference. Please be sure to check back often, as pertinent transition information will be updated.

In the last few months, you should have received information about your account conversion.

Below is a timeline of communications that were sent leading up to the October 1 conversion date.

General Questions

Q: What will happen to the Northwell Health FCU branches in Jericho and Manhasset?

A: The Northwell Health FCU branches will remain open to serve Northwell Health FCU members. New members will also be able to open Bethpage accounts and apply for Bethpage loans from this location.

Q: Will the employees at the Northwell Health FCU branches change?

A: There are currently no plans to change the employees at this branch.

Communication Questions

Q: When will my Northwell Health FCU accounts become Bethpage accounts?

A: Your Northwell Health FCU accounts are scheduled to become Bethpage accounts on October 1, 2017. You will continue to use your Northwell Health FCU accounts and services until September 29, 2017. Bethpage will begin to communicate detailed account information to you in early September to ensure you have everything you need to access your accounts during the transition.

Q: Can Northwell Health employees and/or current Northwell Health FCU members open accounts with Bethpage before the merger?

A: Yes. All Northwell Health employees are currently eligible to join Bethpage by visiting a branch, through the Bethpage website, and onsite at Northwell Health locations through the Bethpage@work program. Bethpage staff from the Business Development department will be onsite at various Northwell Health locations on an ongoing basis.

Account Questions

Q: Will the Northwell Health FCU accounts be available in Bethpage branches and the call center the day the merger is effective?

A: Not entirely. As a member of the shared branch system, Bethpage branch employees will be able to conduct limited transactions for Northwell Health FCU members. Once the system conversion is completed on October 1, 2017, then all Northwell Health FCU accounts and loans will be available in the call center and any Bethpage branch location. You may continue to call the Northwell Health FCU Jericho office at 516-301-3040 for account servicing questions.

Q: What will my Northwell Health FCU accounts become at Bethpage?

A: Your Northwell Health FCU accounts will convert to the most similar account at Bethpage. Please refer to the Product Comparison Chart sent to you on August 1, 2017, which will give you specific product comparisons.

Q: What will happen to my payroll deduction(s)?

A: If you previously arranged to have all or part of your Northwell Health paycheck automatically credited thru a payroll deduction into one or more NHFCU accounts, your paycheck will automatically be directly deposited into your corresponding NHFCU account(s) beginning on August 23rd, 2017. This transition will be seamless, and will afford members with greater transparency and control of accounts. This change is in preparation for the account conversion from NHFCU to Bethpage on October 1, 2017. Should you so desire, you have the right to modify or terminate your direct deposit arrangement(s) at any time. For additional information or answers to any questions, please contact 516-301-3040.

Q: Will Bethpage be transferring my Northwell Health FCU loans?

A: Yes, Bethpage will transfer all Northwell Health FCU loans.

Q: Will my deposit rates remain the same?

A: You will receive Bethpage’s current rate on all variable rate deposit products such as savings or checking accounts. Bethpage will honor Northwell Health FCU certificate rates until your certificate matures, at which time they will transition to the prevailing Bethpage rate at renewal.

Q: If I have accounts at both Northwell Health FCU and Bethpage, what are the NCUA Insurance implications?

A: Once your accounts are converted, your balances will be aggregated, which may affect your share insurance coverage. In order to determine whether and to what extent transitioning accounts to Bethpage may affect your insurance coverage, please visit the NCUA’s dedicated share insurance webpage for assistance:

Q: When will I know my new account numbers and receive my debit card and/or checks?

A: In early September, you will receive additional communication from Bethpage, providing you with critical information and action steps. It is important that you read all communications. All new documents, debit cards, etc. will be in your hands prior to October 1, 2017.

Q: How do I obtain account history and statement records for my former Northwell accounts?

A: We encourage you to download this information via Northwell’s online banking prior to September 29, 2017. This information can also be provided to you by calling 516-301-3040.

Q: If I have more than one checking account, how can I determine which debit card is linked to which account?

A: This information can be provided to you by calling 516-301-3040.

Q: Will I continue to receive my statements at the same time with Bethpage?

A: All Northwell members will be placed into the standard Bethpage statement cycle when their accounts move to Bethpage. Members with a checking account or loan product will receive a monthly statement, which should be received within the first 10 days of the following month. Members with all other account types will receive a quarterly statement which will be received within the first 10 days of January, April, July, and October.

Transaction Questions

Q: Will Northwell Health FCU and Bethpage ATM’s be surcharge free to both memberships upon completion of the merger?

A: Yes. Through shared branching many of these ATM’s are surcharge free for both credit unions today.

Q: If I wrote a check on my Northwell account before October 1st and it has not cleared yet, will it be honored?

A: Yes, Bethpage will honor all outstanding Northwell checks against the new Bethpage account.

Q: When will my Northwell debit card stop working?

A: From September 29th at 6pm through September 30th, your Northwell debit card will be limited to $350 for point-of-sale transactions and $350 for ATM withdrawals. Your Northwell debit card will no longer work as of close of business on September 30, 2017. We recommend that you withdraw some cash prior to 6pm on September 29, 2017. Your new Bethpage debit card will begin to work around 11am on October 1, 2017.

Q: How will any outstanding transactions, such as direct deposit, on my Northwell accounts be handled after October 1, 2017?

A: Bethpage has worked with Northwell Health to ensure that all direct deposits from the hospital will continue to post seamlessly to your new Bethpage accounts. If you have a direct deposit with another employer, we recommend that you change your monthly direct deposits and debits in mid-September, once you receive your account numbers, to be effective as of October 1, 2017. For weekly and bi-weekly direct deposits and debits, you should work with the company initiating the transaction to determine the best date to make the change. Be reminded that your account balance as of September 29, 2017 will transfer to Bethpage on the effective date of October 1, 2017. Bethpage will ensure that outstanding checks and other pending transactions from your Northwell account(s) will post to your new Bethpage account(s).

Online Banking Questions

Q: Will I still be able to use my Northwell Health FCU online banking login?

A: The Northwell Health FCU online banking system will remain available to you until September 29, 2017. We encourage you to login and download all statements and check copies prior to this date. Once accounts are transitioned to Bethpage on October 1, 2017, a new online banking login will need to be established.

Q: Will I need to re-establish online banking with Bethpage?

A: Yes, you will need to register for online banking as a new member to Bethpage. Your new debit card and your social security number will be required during this set up. Please feel free to visit any Bethpage branch for assistance in the set up process.

Credit Card Questions

Q: Will I be able to continue to use my Northwell VISA card?

A: No, your old Northwell VISA card will no longer be valid as of October 11, 2017.

Q: When will I receive my new card?

A: Your New Bethpage Platinum MasterCards will be mailed the week of September 28th. You can activate your card at any time.

Q: When can I use my new Card?

A: Your new card(s) will be valid effective October 11, 2017. Your old card(s) will not work as of October 11, 2017.

Q: Will I receive a PIN for my credit card?

A: A PIN will be mailed separately. Your PIN number can be customized by calling the number on the mailer after October 11, 2017.

Q: Why do I need a PIN for my credit card?

A: Your credit card will be Chip and PIN enabled. PINs are required for most purchase transactions that take place in person.

Q: What happens to my old account and transactions?

A: All transactions including payments and balances will be converted over to your new card as of October 11th. If you have recurring payments already set up, you will have to provide your new account number information.

Q: Will I get two statements?

A: You will receive your last statement from Northwell in October. You will begin receiving your new Bethpage credit card statement effective November 3rd with a payment due date of November 28, 2017.

Q: Who can I call if I have issues with my new card?

A: For any issues please contact Customer Service at 1-866-820-3847. You can also access your account through online banking at as of October 11, 2017.

Q: What happens to my reward points?

A: All points that you have accumulated to date will be brought over to your new account. You will continue to earn 1 point for each dollar spent.

Q: How do I redeem my points?

A: You can now access the rewards redemption site by logging into Online Banking and going to the credit card page. You will need to enroll in the rewards redemption site separately.

Credit Life And Disability Questions

Q: Will my loan or credit card still be covered under my CUNA mutual credit life or disability plan that I purchased when I obtained my loan?

A: No. Northwell members who currently have credit life or disability protection will be transferred to the old Bethpage Federal Credit Union credit life and disability programs administered by Securian (Allied Solutions)

Q: Will the Bethpage credit life and disability plans with Securian be the same as the Northwell CUNA mutual plan.

A: No. In most instances the member will receive better pricing with Bethpage and relatively the same coverage. See matrix for plan changes

Q: When I turn 70 will my credit life or disability plan with Bethpage remain in effect?

A: No. Both credit life and disability plan coverage terminates when a borrower turns 70 years old.
